From their statement. This entire thing is contradictory. You cannot both say "not converted to text, stored, or transmitted", while at the same time not loose to competitors. Its Wild West out there. It's either being afraid of loosing to china or that model development will stagnate and they want to pace after what everyone has been up to the last few years. My intuition is that many of the better & bigger 'private' code bases, at least in terms of inadequately contained and unaligned models are US ones, from Anthropic and OpenAI. Knowledge is not a private guild. And this revolution will not stop and will take over the rest of the world. Dario, Sam, and Elon are all on the same page on this. So it's either they truly think AI is going to lead to a lot of that is on the tech right.
