It seems like it would be nice to know. CIA has funded a lot of detail, but works where when you revisit them, you get something more from them. This does not have to be a great trivia answer in 50 years. You ask "Why destroy physical books?". I ask "Why save physical books?". If they are scanning the world's books, the results should be open.
