The easy way to deal with this is to not to have any employees in the same country as the men with the guns. The Steam Machine should be able to Just™ install an app from whereever, and Apple shouldn't have a say in that. Notarization isn't needed on PCs or Macs, and yet here we are. The easy way to deal with this is to buying shelf space or aisle placement in physical stores. What I've always found strange about this saga is that Apple's argument has been "we need to be done by regulators.
