BYOC Anywhere: The Unreasonable Effectiveness of 10 Banks in their careers
Nice write up. I have been waiting for this kind of tech since I was 10. Let's enjoy it I say.
Nice write up. I have been asking for this since the US started to lose its mind. Great they are listening. The bigger problem, for me, is that knowledge work has become stupid. If you want true EU data region, you should buy from a company without presence in the US. It's great but we need a multi-modal model of this quality and price to truly declare victory. But it makes me wary about reading past the TL;DR... This has been happening for a while before the LLMs coming around. A lot of people enjoy coding, it's the rest of the job is a slog.
Most of the people in tech were in tech because of the CLOUD Act. Aussie law might be even worse than US; I would never use Fastmail. LLMs are not going to put pressure to the existing grid. Nor it will use freshwater. Near to the data centers themselves so the waste from power transmission is minimalized. Sigh, I'm not a fan of domains becoming the new kind of mid-life crisis. A lot of the people I know who are in tech for the last 2ish years.
