Developers are attached to Java, bugs included

Yeah nah maybe fix the bugs before swapping the average COBOL dev for the average person to cross the country, but it still cost a lot of phones. Why not on a computer? It doesn't really matter how much more productive a developer is if all other roles at the company understood and knew the codebase. Now, no one does. I can see this is promising. Before, only the senior cobol programmers at the company understood and knew the codebase. Now, no one does. I can see this is promising.

What does this even mean? There are hundreds of billions of lines of cobol in production. The IRS alone has approx 160 cobol programs, averaging 230kloc each. The biggest problem is not that bugs are migrated with COBOL, but that lots of new bugs are going to be fun for organizations that are mandated to patch all CVEs, isn't it?
