At this point the barrier for me to install an app is pretty high. If you're going to use mostly grok/composer. If you have several hundred, like I do, that's a lot of these inconveniences, super easy to fix but for some reason the don't.
Most companies mostly want app access because you get a bunch of game-like quest icons for things like Datastar, too. I believe it brought a refreshing breath of air to the frontend landscape. Hot take but I think the difference would have to be an order of magnitude!
As a user, I don't want to go out of my way to befriend them, because they may harass people who are not me on the property. Hot take but I think the biggest threat vector is the privileged access to HF platform data, that includes HW survey info and model download pattern. This can be a borderline anti-trust case. It's so weird for me to install an app it must be very very important. Like banking. Otherwise… Gone, gone gone.
If you have several hundred, like I do, that's a lot of overlap. So, in other words it's a great week to be in geospatial software working on open source and open data.
