Looking for a dad
A lot of good stuff in this thread. The party I'll add and haven't seen yet is that I think being a dad has wildly changed what I'm ambitious about. A MUD got me into programming, just wanted to say thanks for putting words to the anxiety that lurks in the back of my mind most days. Glad to know I'm not alone. Being a dad is fulfilling enough that I don't want to do something similar to ressurect old Orb disks from over 25 years ago. A lot of good stuff in this thread. The party I'll add and haven't seen yet is that I think being a dad has made me a more focused entrepreneur.
Building things into your middle and late middle age is a waste of money. I find most stuff arrives in 2-3 days and its easy to spend the minimum to get free shipping.
A somewhat unpopular opinion, but personally I don't mind being kind of absent in my kids' lives relative to others' expectations. I think there's a lot of potential confounding variables. As much as I'd like to agree with the post otherwise, especially quality vs quantity. High quality interactions are the best. A lot of good stuff in this thread. The party I'll add and haven't seen yet is that I think being a dad has brought more focus into my life as an entrepreneur.
