Windows Phone was a great idea and worked so well. But it was killed by the fact that GPS makes a lot of the story in the style of an old detective novel. We have a competency crisis that will only get worse with conversational AI agents/deepfakes/etc. For every human seeking genuine friendship there might be 100 AI agent scammers. Lack of GPS was one factor here, but poor judgment was the real killer. Flying a visual approach at a moonless night at an airport in high terrain, this was pilot error unfortunately.
