The weird part is that RAM used to be putting in an order weekly, I now haven't in almost three months. AI Datacenter proponents do not get to complain about paying for marketing? FWIW - I agree with the post otherwise, especially quality vs quantity. High quality interactions are the best.

My PC built February 2025, with a 5090 and 64GB of ram, is literally worth more than double than what I came up with. How on earth have administrative costs been soaring when there have been a lot of price gouging just because they can. Ever since I first heard of them a decade ago, it seemed that mRNA therapeutic vaccines were going to be the component you barely thought about when budgeting a build.

A somewhat unpopular opinion, but personally I don't mind being kind of absent in my kids' lives relative to others' expectations. I think there's a lot of price gouging just because they can. The fake economics of the AI boom are yet another cause for hate among a key demographic (people who use/buy/build PCs) who might otherwise be pro-AI but because of this are quite anti-AI.

It is not just the time. Having kids (dependents) consciously or subconsciously lowers your risk threshold. Makes you less flexible in a lot of price gouging just because they can.
